About me
Hi, my name is Maria, the woman behind "Mave Digital Arts." Mave was derived from the first two letters of my two names. Professionally I am called Maria, and friends used to call me by my nickname.
A former OFW turned virtual assistant and graphic artist. A passionate woman from the Philippines' Pearl of the Orient who has been interested in the arts since childhood. Using a pen and scratch paper, I create my own story with my art, making characters with backstories and feelings.
I had a great time doing my art; I sketched almost anything that piqued my interest. I'm happy to say that art is something I feel confident about. Aside from the fact that it runs in my family, I knew that art makes me more of myself and serves as my comfort zone.
I started doing graphic design by creating tarpaulins, invitations, thank-you cards, tags, and stickers. However, I felt that my understanding of graphic design was still insufficient. I started to study the basics and fundamentals by watching online tutorials and honing my abilities every day in order to refine my craft and establish my distinct style.
I attended many workshops to equip myself with the proper methodology and best practices, and I surround myself with people who share my interests. In 2022, I became one of the Canva creators who creates illustrations and graphics for people to use. However, things are not going well, even after becoming a creator. Still not enough, until I found something interesting that caught my attention. I didn’t try it the first time I saw it since I was hesitant, but I lost my two clients at the same time, so I thought it was over; I just prayed and asked if this is the path I am meant to take. With my low savings left, I took the risk, and I am so glad I did!
Now that things have changed, I can enjoy my life without having to worry about becoming stressed out or checking in to work. I have enough time to spend with my family, friends, child, and myself!

And the most significant thing I do with my earnings is put money into my child's future and education. I don't live with my child because poverty makes it impossible for me to fight for my rights; I was feeling hopeless back then. I have too few resources, particularly money, so all I can do is cry and pray. But now I've realized that I can still support her even if we are not together, giving me the confidence to tell my child with pride that I have saved money for her future. Therefore, don't assume that just because you have some money today, you are free to spend it all at once. That's my mindset—this is how I pay myself!
